Inside Darwin’s Aboriginal Fashion runway show 2019

Darwin’s Aboriginal Fashion runway show

The Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair, first founded in 2007, celebrated its fourth From Country to Couture event on August 7, with a runway show that highlighted the ingenious collaboration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander fine art and fashion.

The runway presentation, which showcased the designs of 10 boutique collections, crafted in collaboration with remote community art centres, was held inside the Darwin Convention Centre. Welcoming fashion from the likes of Ngali, Designs With Country, and Verner, it proved to be an event worth attending.

On the evening, statement accessories, bold colours, and brave ensembles were worn by the street style set that took the Northern Territory capital by storm, and the models, designers, and artists involved in the event stepped out in their best looks.
