NGALI JOURNAL

CREATIVE AUSTRALIA x Ngali

At Ngali, collaboration sits at the heart of everything we do. Every collection, every partnership, and every story we share is grounded in respect, creativity, and a deep commitment to supporting First Nations artists and communities.

We acknowledge the support of Creative Australia, whose investment in our work has played a vital role in strengthening our artist collaborations and expanding meaningful economic opportunities.

Through this support, Ngali has been able to deepen relationships with artists and art centres across Australia, create new pathways into fashion and homewares markets, and elevate First Nations creativity on national and international platforms. It has enabled us to spend time building trust, listening, and working alongside artists to ensure their stories are translated into commercial outcomes that honour cultural integrity.

Over the grant period, this partnership supported the development of new collaborations, major national retail opportunities, expanded product ranges, and the generation of significant royalty income for artists. These outcomes reflect what is possible when creative practice is backed by thoughtful, long-term investment.

Importantly, Creative Australia’s support extends beyond funding. It provides confidence, accountability, and momentum for First Nations–led businesses like Ngali to grow sustainably, innovate responsibly, and remain grounded in community values.

This support has also strengthened our ability to build visual storytelling, showcase artists’ work with care and context, and connect communities to broader audiences. Through these shared efforts, artists are better positioned to access new markets and continue creating on their own terms.

We believe that when First Nations creativity is supported in ways that respect culture and prioritise shared value, the impact flows far beyond individual projects. It strengthens families, communities, and future generations of creatives.

We are grateful to Creative Australia for walking alongside us on this journey. Their belief in our vision has helped us expand what is possible — for Ngali, for our collaborating artists, and for the communities whose stories continue to inspire our work.

Together, we are building a future where First Nations creativity is recognised, valued, and supported to thrive — creatively, culturally, and economically.
